PERSONAL WORK
THE ARTIFACT
This artifact is the work I created in Fall of 2009 for the ART 6994-Problems in Interdisciplinary Studies in Art course. The course was focused on how to use Adobe Photoshop to create digital art and create art that combined both digital and traditional media. The work below is the culmination of all the work I created in the course. Not only did I develop skills to manipulate images and photographs in Photoshop, but I learned how to correctly size and change the resolution of an image, while having loads of fun! I have the work labeled DIGITAL WORK, TRADITIONAL AND DIGITAL COMBINED, FINAL ARTIST BOOK. The first two sections of work were created to acquaint the students to Adobe Photoshop in combination with traditional media. The artist book at the bottom of the page was the culminating project for this class utilizing both traditional and digital art. As more of a three-dimensional artist, I wanted to make these two-dimensional forms of art more a sculptural element.
MY REFLECTION
As a result of the work I completed in this class, I further developed my skills in Adobe Photoshop. For these works, I focused solely on the nature I was surrounded by. I traveled from North Carolina to Maine to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. As a three-dimensional artist, I wanted to create a work of art that reflects my sculptural skills, while incorporating the new medium of digital art. I now feel confident in bringing these skills I learned into my classroom. I have developed a lesson plan to utilize Adobe Photoshop in combination with a traditional printmaking technique. In the future, I want to continue using digital images within my own work and develop a Computer Arts curriculum into my middle school art program.
